The UEFA Champions League is Europe’s top club football tournament where the best teams from domestic leagues compete. Since 2024/25, it uses a new 36-team league phase instead of groups, with each club playing seven matches against different opponents. The top 8 advance directly to the Round of 16, while teams ranked 9–24 play playoffs to join them, and the rest are eliminated. From the Round of 16 onward, it follows a knockout format—two-legged ties through to the semifinals, and a one-match final at a neutral stadium—where the winner is crowned European champion.
